Green Valley
Surrounded on three sides by the Russian River Valley appellation and to the south by Sonoma Coast, Green Valley is one of the quietest and most secluded of Sonoma Wine Country’s AVAs (American Viticultural Areas). Located in the cool dank coastal range and punctuated with stately stands of redwood, Green Valley is a misty paradise for temperamental Pinot Noir, spicy Gewürztraminer and fruit-side Chardonnay.

Green Valley is orchard country. In and around the town of Sebastopol (which is in Green Valley), once the world’s leading producer of gravenstein apples, the remnants of that proud agricultural past are still to be found. Misty apple orchards, rambling old barns, llama pastures, Christmas tree farms – one would be forgiven for not immediately recognizing this part of Sonoma County as Wine Country.

Far removed from the wine obsessed towns of Napa, Sonoma and Healdsburg; Sebastopol retains a charm all its own. On your California Wine Country tour be sure to take a stroll up Main Street past antique shops, second hand stores and cafes with fresh homemade berry and apple pies – made with local ingredients of course!
