Mount
Veeder
One of the larger of the Napa Wine Country’s mountain wine
grape growing districts, Mount Veeder can be found to the west
of Napa Valley in the Mayacamas range on the border with Sonoma
Valley. The southern end of Mount Veeder extends into the grassy
low lands of the Carneros district and benefits from the cooler
influences of the Napa River and San Pablo Bay. The higher central
and northern parts of the Mount Veeder appellation are defined
by the well draining, gravelly soils that dominate here. Mount
Veeder is famous for “dry farmed” (non-irrigated)
vines, including the Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Merlot,
that push their roots deep into the soil, sometimes as far as
100 feet allowing the full fruit character of the wine grapes
to come to the fore. Napa Wines from Mount Veeder have an exquisite
mouth feel and deliver a full fruit punch from front mid and rear
pallet. |
