Green Valley

Green Valley is a sub-appellation, located in the southwest region of the Russian River Valley AVA (American Viticultural Area). It's one of the quietest and smallest Sonoma County AVAs.

Fog is Green Valley's hallmark, this microclimate is cool, dank and punctuated with stately stands of redwood trees. The misty paradise is perfectly suited for temperamental Pinot Noir, spicy Gewürztraminer and Chardonnay.

Green Valley is also orchard country. The town of Sebastopol (which is in Green Valley) was once the world's leading producer of gravenstein apples. You'll find remnants of its former agricultural past: Misty apple orchards, rambling old barns, llama pastures, Christmas tree farms are scattered around Green Valley. However, more and more vineyards populate the Green Valley wine region each year. Still removed from the wine obsessed towns of Napa, Sonoma and Healdsburg; Sebastopol retains a charm all its own. On your California Wine Country tour be sure to take a stroll up Main Street past antique shops, second hand stores and cafes with fresh homemade berry and apple pies - made with local ingredients of course!

Green Valley wineries that offer winery tours and wine tasting are: Taft Street and Gary Farrell
